Mold Damage

Towne will first locate the source of moisture supporting the growth of mold and eliminate it. Then we will dry the area using special equipment. We will test your home to determine how extensive the mold growth is and what kind of mold is growing and then determine the best course of treatment. We will test again after the treatment to be sure that the mold has been eradicated.

If you have an insurance policy that includes coverage for mold, we will write an itemized estimate using industry standard software to submit to your insurance company describing the repairs required to restore your home. We will make both structural and cosmetic repairs to assure that your home is better than it was before.
  • Remove water source to retard growth of mold
  • Perform mold test to monitor health hazard
  • Will my policy cover mold damage?
  • Some policies do and some policies don't. The best thing to do is ask your agent.

  • What caused the mold to start growing in my house?
  • Mold spores are always present. When adequate moisture becomes available, they begin to grow within 24-48 hours.

  • I see mold on my walls. Is it likely to be growing anywhere else in my home?
  • Mold grows on drywall, plaster, plywood, insulation, wood, fabric, paper, and other organic materials. Frequently it can grow behind walls in water-damaged areas.

  • What happens if I don't eradicate the mold?
  • Mold can cause health problems including allergic reactions, asthma attacks, infections, and respiratory damage. It can also cause wood to become weak and rotten and result in structural damage.

  • What should I do to prevent these problems from developing?
  • First, remove the moisture as quickly as possible and prevent more moisture from accumulating. Reduce the humidity. Eradicate existing mold. Towne has technicians who have completed courses offered by the Indoor Air Quality Association and passed a rigorous 3-hour exam to qualify as a Certified Mold Remediator.

  • Can I use fans to dry an area with mold?
  • The fans will help with drying, but they will also spread the mold spores through the air.

  • Will bleach get rid of mold?
  • Generally, bleach is effective on nonporous surfaces like glass or metal. However, materials that are porous (absorb and hold water) like drywall require other kinds of cleaning processes or may need to be removed and replaced.

  • Should I stay in my house if I have mold?
  • It depends on the extent of mold growth. If testing indicates a serious problem you may have to move out while the mold is being eradicated.
