Fire Damage

Towne will board up openings and secure your property, winterize it if the temperature may dip below freezing, and write an itemized estimate using industry standard software to submit to your insurance company. We will get the necessary permits and work with you to restore your property within the limits set by your policy, including rebuilding walls, stairways, roofs, replacing carpet and flooring, cleaning and painting. We will sort through your contents and determine which items can be saved, and pack these items, clean them, and store them.

We will list those items which are damaged beyond repair. Your insurance company will use this list to reimburse you for your loss. We will guarantee your home and contents will be free of odor and we promise your home will be better than it was before the fire.
  • Secure property to prevent break-ins and theft
  • Cover openings to prevent weather-related damage
  • Winterize plumbing to prevent frozen pipes
  • I've just had a fire... what do I do?
  • Call your agent or your insurance company to report the loss. Then be sure the property is secured and valuables have been removed. Call Towne for emergency services at 574-295-2174. We're available 24/7.

  • Will my insurance company pay for Towne to board up my damaged home?
  • All policies generally include coverage for this service. We will bill your insurance company directly.

  • I need some clothes right away. Can I just get them dry-cleaned or washed?
  • Dry-cleaning or laundering may actually trap odor making it difficult or even impossible to remove. By treating the fabrics first with ozone, clothing can be restored to its original condition. It should be noted, however, smoke stains are often permanent. Select the things you need immediately and we will treat them with ozone and then professionally dry-clean or launder them. You'll have them back within days.

  • My home is damaged too badly for me to stay there. I know I'll have money from the insurance company eventually, but what will I do in the meantime?
  • Talk to your agent or adjuster about money for temporary housing in a hotel or rental property. Most policies provide for these additional living expenses.

  • What about other things I need right away, like personal items?
  • If you must replace some items immediately, keep the receipts and submit them to your insurance company.

  • What do I do with my pets?
  • Some insurance policies will provide funds to board your pet. Check with your agent or adjuster.

  • I'm worried about the smoke odor. Can you guarantee there will be no odor?
  • Absolutely. The key to eliminate smoke odor is to use the proper odor-control techniques at every step of the restoration process. Smoke particles can be trapped in wood, insulation, duct work, drywall, clothing, drapes and furniture. Failure to treat any one of these can leave an odor.
